Year 4 - Mrs Tidball

  • This year isn’t turning out so bad after all, as year 4 are lucky enough to have 3 amazing teachers to facilitate the children’s learning! Wahoo!
Mrs Tidball’s morning group are a wonderful mixture of children from Mrs Sedgwick’s class and Miss Cuthbert’s class – they do the majority of their English and Maths work with Mrs Tidball (as well as one or two other subjects) then rejoin the rest of their class for their foundation subject learning in the afternoons.

I am so pleased to be working with the year 4 children!

  • Welcome back to a brand new school year!

The last few months have no doubt been challenging for everyone, in all kinds of different ways, though I am absolutely delighted to be back in school again and I cannot wait for the fun and learning that lies ahead. There will probably be challenges to overcome along the way, but I have no doubt that we will overcome them and be ever stronger as a result.

Always remember- be happy, be kind and most importantly, be YOU!

  • P.E.

Both Mrs Sedgwick and Miss Cuthbert’s classes have P.E. on a Monday and Tuesday afternoon. P.E. kit should be brought in and kept in school ready for their physical education. Children may take their kit home at half term to be washed and returned.
Children are welcome to include a warm, plan jumper or hoody as part of their PE kit.

More details can be found on their class pages.

  • Home Learning – The fun doesn’t have to stop when you leave us!

The benefits of reading are endless! We encourage children to practise their reading at home (with both their school reading book and any other text they wish to read) and ask that you sign in their home reading record any time they have read at home, at least once weekly.

At the beginning of each half term, the children will receive a spelling grid which outlines the spelling patterns they will be taught over the coming weeks. We ask that children practise these as regularly as possible in preparation for their weekly spelling test.

Finally, to further enhance their home learning experience, your child will be given login details to Times Tables Rock Stars and Spelling Shed websites – the details can be found in the front of their home reading records.

    Have fun learning at home!

  • Hydrate!

Can we please remind you that in order for your children to reach their true potential,  it is essential that they have a water bottle in school at all times. Their brains are 75% water so it is important that they can access a drink of water throughout the school day. Unfortunately, there is limited capacity within school to provide children with cups etc, but water bottles are on sale at the finance office for £1.50. Alternatively, a clear plastic bottle, clearly labelled with your child’s name, would be sufficient. We thank you for your continued cooperation.
