  • Upcoming Events

Our school trip will be on Friday 15th June to Newcastle Life Centre.

N.B. While we endeavour to keep to these dates, they are subject to change due to some circumstances beyond our control. We will inform you with plenty of notice of any changes of dates.

  • This half term we are learning….

  • Homework

Homework is sent home every Friday.

Children are encouraged to complete this independently.

English and Maths homework will be focussed on the weekly work that they have done in class.

Homework is expected to be completed by a Thursday.

  • Spelling

Spellings will be sent home weekly and these will be the common exception words for Year 1 or words with a common spelling pattern.

Please encourage your children to practise these at home.

  • Reading

Please try to read every night at home with your children and sign their reading records to ensure they receive their reading awards.

Reading books will be changed on a weekly basis.

Please ensure your children have their reading books in school everyday.

  • P.E

We have P.E on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Please ensure your child has a full P.E kit in school.

A full P.E kit should include a white T-shirt, black shorts and either black P.E shoes or trainers.

Trainers are required during the summer term.

  • Helping your child at home

Here are a few extra things you could help your child with at home…

As well as their weekly spellings, these are the words your children need to learn to spell by the end of Year 1.

As well as reading every night at home, children can use Bug Club for extra reading too!
