• From the beginning of their time in school, children take part in many different physical activities, starting with Primary Movement and Funky Feet in Early Years.  We encourage our children to develop their movement skills through a whole range of activities using large and small apparatus and indoor and outdoor games.  As children progress, they learn to work together in groups and teams thus developing confidence and self-control.  Children of all ages make use of our sports hall and MUGA which were funded through Sport England and the Football Foundation.

Teachers make use of published PE schemes including Val Sabin materials, Matalan TOPS cards Youth Sport Trust resources, as well as other lesson plans created by our Sports Development Officer.  In 2015 and 2016, the school was awarded School Games Kite Mark Gold for offering a comprehensive range of extra-curricular sporting clubs, being involved in competitive sport and producing leaders of sport.  We are also delivering a sports club called Change4Life which is designed to increase physical activity and wellness in 7-9 year olds.

At West View, we encourage our children to enjoy and gain success from physical activities and to develop an awareness of the needs to look after their bodies. Competent pupils are invited to join our Sports Development Programme from Year 5.  These children receive additional coaching twice a week after school, support within lessons as Sports Leaders and represent our school at many tournaments and competitions.  Our PE offer is complemented by the many external sports coaches we have working with us.
